Designed to protect alpinists in extreme conditions the MSR Remote 3 person tent is more liveable with greater stability and protection than any other MSR tent. Whether you are spending three days or several weeks on the mountain these expedition quality tents deliver the sturdy reliability and protection regardless of the harsh conditions outside.
The MSR Remote 3 person tent is much lighter than previous ‘all-season’ tents while still providing liveability and protection. This is partly due to the unique frame design coupled with advanced ‘Easton Syclone’ poles. It stands up to high winds and heavy snow loads while providing a comfortable living space, weighs in at only 3.88kg.
The cross frame increases internal volume on many MSR tent designs, but with the Remote 3 tent the cross pole is extended to the floor, increasing stability in high winds and supporting the roof structure so it won’t collapse under heavy snow loading.
The poles themselves are completely new composite polymer design created by Easton Technologies exclusively for MSR. Tough, flexible and lightweight the Easton ‘Syclone’ poles are a leap forward in pole technology that help give the Remote 3 tent it’s strength while maintaining a low weight.

68 denier fly material, snow valences, huge hooped gear porch, multiple heavy duty guy points and double access doors all make the Remote 3 a very serious all-season go anywhere do anything shelter.
MSR have made it both roomy and liveable, but the the weight is still only 1.29kg per person when split between three. Thats exceptionally light for this type of robust mountain tent.
The Remote 3 has a total of 28 guy-out points!
There are nine guying out points at ground level. Five of these are essential locations with Groundhog Stakes supplied and another four non-essential with no pegs supplied. Depending on your expected terrain or conditions you might choose smaller lightweight pegs for these locations, for example the MSR Mini-Groundhog, or choose not to peg these out at all.
The upper flysheet has nineteen guying loops sewn in. Eight of these are supplied with guy lines attached, but there are only six Groundhog Stakes supplied (11 total). Depending on your expected terrain or conditions you might choose MSR Blizzard Stakes for use in snow or a combination of pegs plus other anchors such as buried ice axes, crampons, snowshoes or skies. Eight is a sensible number of guy lines, so you might not need to buy the extra 11 lines and 13 pegs depending on your destination.
